Title: Driver and consequences of mangrove expansion into temperate salt marsh ecosystems

Abstract: Accelerating climate change is influencing the geographic distribution and abundance of species worldwide. In coastal wetlands, mangroves are moving poleward and landward in response to rising temperatures and sea levels. Focusing on a mangrove-saltmarsh ecotone in coastal Florida, Dr. Gruner will review evidence for the climatic drivers and the community-level consequences of these shifting coastal zone ecosystems.
